Sunday, July 14: Lap Pool CLOSED

Due to mechanical issues the lap pool will be closed today, Sunday, July 14. We will attempt to open as soon as possible with our regular summer hours.

The leisure pool will be open and available during this time. The open hours for the leisure pool can be found on our website by visiting https://recsports.unt.edu/hours

Lap Pool System Updates Closure

Due to required maintenance, we anticipate the lap pool closing within the next three weeks and remaining closed until mid-September. The planned closure is due to a required replacement of both the fire suppression and HVAC systems. We recognize that the uncertain timeline and the closure creates some inconveniences, and we apologize for that. The new systems will help maintain a safe and enjoyable environment in the lap pool for years to come, and should result in more reliable operations and fewer unplanned closures in that space.

The leisure pool will remain open and be available during this time. The open hours for the leisure pool can be found on our website by visiting https://recsports.unt.edu/hours

We appreciate you being a member of the Rec Center and once again apologize for the inconvenience.

City of Denton Roadwork

The City of Denton will be closing both roads and sidewalks around the Rec Center to install new water and sewer utilities. This will likely have a significant impact on parking around the Rec Center, as well as sidewalk access on both sides of the street. The information below is our best understanding of what is happening, areas of impact, and potential options for you.

Ave D from Chestnut to Mulberry; Chestnut from Ave C to Ave D (highlighted in yellow and orange rectangles)

* Ave D will be closed from Chestnut to Mulberry, starting Monday, June 3.
* Chestnut will be closed from Ave C to Ave D, starting Tuesday, June 4.
* Multiple crews will be working at the same time to install new water and sewer lines. Some adjacent sidewalks are being replaced.
* UNT Lot 5 (next to Chestnut Hall) will be accessible from the driveway off Sycamore St.
* UNT Lot 4 (next to Chilton Hall) will be inaccessible for the duration of the work.
* Street parking will not be available.
* Anticipated duration: Monday, June 3 - Monday, August 12.

Lot 7 Parking (highlighted in yellow and orange rectangles)

* UNT Lot 7 will be closed for the next 18-24 months to accommodate the construction of a new academic building

Potential Options (highlighted in green circles)

* UNT Lot 20 likely offers the most available parking, including accessible parking, with the correct permits.
* UNT Lot 11 could also potentially have additional spots available, however the sidewalks from UNT Lot 11 will likely be closed, requiring an alternate route.
* As always, please be sure to check with UNT Parking to determine the spaces and passes eligible to you.
