Fitness & Group Exercise

The Group Exercise Program offers fitness classes to UNT students, faculty, staff, alumni and retirees. The programs are designed to increase your fitness level through safe and fun classes - at your own pace! These activities are a great way to meet new friends, stay in shape, and keep a regular exercise routine. All classes have qualified instructors to guide you in your fitness endeavors.
Free classes are available to all currently enrolled UNT students and to all Rec Center members. Free classes indicated on the Group Exercise Schedule with an asterisk (*). All other classes are available with an aerobics pass.
Participants must sign in at the Rec Center Member Services Desk for every group exercise class (except Abs & Back). Sign-in sheets are available 30 minutes prior to the start of each class. Group Exercise classes will begin on time. The official time will be the clock on the track. Participants will not be allowed to enter class after the doors are locked and class has begun.

With the end of the semester fast approaching many students are experiencing a significant increase in stress as they study for finals and complete semester projects. Similarly many of you, as faculty and staff members, are also experiencing increased stress levels as you prepare final exams, grade countless assignments, or complete your own tasks before the semester ends. While some stress has been shown to have a positive effect on our productivity and health, significant levels of stress can be harmful and dangerous. Excessive stress can lead to increases in heart disease and heart attacks, increases in weight gain and obesity, reductions of quality sleep, and many more health related concerns. Fortunately, regular participation in fitness and/or physical activity can help to prevent or reduce the effects of stress. Now that you know this, the next time you are feeling stressed take some time out of your day to do something physically active, like going for a walk during lunch or visiting the Pohl Recreation Center. Furthermore, to help prevent stress before it impacts your health try to follow a regular program of fitness/physical activity throughout the year.

Stay Active with Group Ex
The Pohl Recreation Center offers a variety of group exercise formats to provide you with the opportunity to get great workouts lead by experienced instructors. Classes are motivating, fun, and challenging for all fitness levels. Group exercise can help tone your major muscles, improve cardiovascular endurance, increase flexibility and more!
Stuck in a workout rut? Just need to switch up your normal fitness routine? Drop by for a class at any time during the semester!
